CodyCross

CodyCross (Anderiod)

My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

The ads are annoying, but also useful as letting them play is a fast way to earn back whatever gems you may use for the occasional hint. You do also get daily gems, though I imagine they can go quickly if you need a lot of hints later in the game. For the most part, the hints are sufficient. An interesting twist to earn additional letters, basically additional hints, by filling in previous lines.

Pokemon: Detecitve Pikachu

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I was pleasantly surprised by this movie, especially as we had all heard it wasn't very good before seeing it. We still went as the kids love playing Pokemon Go and really wanted to see the movie. Having grown up with the TV series and older animated movies, I really appreciated that they gave a nod to the first movie, but moved on with an original story line rather than trying to redo what had already been done. The story itself has a few twists and turns as well that keep it interesting and unique. Odd twist at the end, but it makes sense with the entire talking thing, otherwise why not with any of the others after breathing in the gas if that really was the trigger for how it worked? Why not anyone else? There were a lot of questions that could be asked through the entire film if you kept track of the clues and wanted to solve the puzzle. Have to say it's cute how it all turns out. No, it's not the best movie out there, but if you want something family friendly with an uplifting ending, you got it.

In Death 48: Connections in Death

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

While I wouldn't call this my favorite in the series, it still has all the high notes and was a great read. It only took me longer because my new full time job ate my life and I'm still working on finding my new balance. Regardless, I didn't feel like I ever had to go back or refresh events; it was always fresh and easy to dive back in wherever I was in the story. Interesting how this one effected Eve despite not having any of the more common or expected tie ins that would normally disturb her. The irritation at the end when she pulls one of Roarke's moves is fairly entertaining as well. She's come a long way since the start of this series, and there are little pockets in each book besides the overall story that really let it shine.

Marvel Cinematic Universe 22: Avengers 4 [Endgame]

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I knew this movie was long going in, but it was long. It felt long, and yet it was good enough, I didn't particularly care. There are things that could have been shortened, simplified, or even left out to cut it down, but everything that was left was enjoyable. There is definitely the most time heavy emphasis on the battle, which makes sense as it is essentially the final point of everything this series has been working towards up to now. It will be interesting to see what new arc is determined to take over the story line now that some of the cast has officially moved on. All in all, they probably played this out about the best they could have hoped for with a changing of the guard. Have to say, Captain America's ending was the best.

DC Extended Universe 6: Aquaman

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Admittedly, it took me much longer to see this than it maybe should have. Haven't been as excited about the DC Universe new releases, though Aquaman does appear to be one of the better ones. Despite the frequent flashbacks, rather forced denial, and more than a little bit of predictability even if you didn't know the original comics at all, the movie was overall well made and performed. I started it thinking that it was already late and I might need to pause and finish the next night after work. Ended it glad that I'd finally sat down to watch it and enjoyed the story all on the same night.
