With this release, we're catch up to the end of volume 7 of the light novels. As with the other books, it's interesting to see the story art form and the expressions from the characters directly rather than just imagining the scenes based on the text. The pace may be a little faster too given the amount of content to fit into a different format rather than in text. Still, it seems evident that everything works out for their benefit and Sei manages to fit right in, though she may not always be as cautious as she should be when it comes to sharing information. Fortunately, she always has a rather happy escort at her side to help protect her and avoid the vendors from discovering that Sei is their Saint. Hopefully it won't be too long before the next volume comes out to continue this story.

The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent: The Other Saint 4 by Yuka Tachibana
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Interesting idea to improve the holy water. It seems as if they've at least improved the oven model at the assembly, though hard to say with the magic requirements if it will become more popular in other areas especially where actual kitchens may not be possible. It is also interesting to meet the previous grand magus and his current student. Even though the monster spawns have died down, it seems Aira is still traveling a lot, though she seems to enjoy it. Not sure how much more could be put into this series at this point in time given it's caught up from to other story mediums that are further ahead at this point it seems. Given the focus only on Aira, the time goes much faster in each story where Sei's version takes a lot more time and detail as the focus of the story being the saint. Drewes may have a point that Aira is like a saint in many ways, though she lacks the saints' arts or stats that Sei possesses. It may be similar, in a way, to how Prince Kyle insisted that Aira was still a saint even after it was proven that Sei held the actual saints' power. Hopefully it will not cause trouble in the future, especially as things seem much more peaceful now and everyone has become friends wanting to help each other.

It seems now that Sei can access the saint's art, perhaps her previous idea of holy water wasn't so far off. With Aira having the same idea and the two of them working together, they just may be able to make this a new staple reality in this world, at least for as long as there is a saint around to help create it. As usual, the grand magus is most interested in watching the magic casting and seeing what the effects of the magic are than anything else. Somehow, Sei has managed to keep her secret regarding how she activates the power. While it will increase Sei's orders to produce orders between the holy water and her usual potions, it could indeed help when it comes to the number of missions she may need to tag along on directly and what the knights can handle on their own.

As usual, the manga version is a bit behind the light novel series. It's still very enjoyable to see the story come to life with the art and the character's expressions as they navigate this world and the next steps. This installment covers Sei's debutant ball and the firs time Commander Hawke gets to step in as her escort. The family drama begins as well with several families wanting to put forward candidates to be paired with the saint. Not that Sei has any idea these plans are going on behind the scenes. As far as she's concerned, she's just trying to survive as long as she needs to during these social interacts before she can return to her research and the expeditions to stop the monster spawns. Fortunately, Sei has a pretty solid group of friends around her that have their own high standing and understand these situations, so she's been well protected all around.

What's that saying about one step forward and two steps back? They finally got Sei's engagement figured out, and now the wedding is on hold while not just one party, but both of them along with the crown prince, grand magus, and several others are trapped overseas. At least it seems no one there realizes Sei is the Saint, but beyond that they've yet to figure out if they're after their miracle cure, magic, or very remotely possibly something else altogether. It seems hard to believe with the timing that the theft closing down the ports doesn't have something to do with healing.

It seems Sei is even more popular with the nobility after hosting her first ever party, in large part thanks to the aid of the second prince and others who are in her court. Fortunately, it seems her secret is also safe even with the visiting prince returning home with the miracle cure. That was a rather interesting and yet strangely believable story the king and prime minister managed to cook up to protect Sei yet still honor her wishes in helping others. We finally get back to what the series originally was about as well with Sei needing to use her Saint's magic to purge the black swamps. Bonus with Albert's concern and rushing to the rescue with this unique battle as well. And a dragon?! This certainly doesn't seem to be like any other swamp they've come up against so far, though it's pretty funny how Sei keeps comparing these expeditions and their findings with the monster battles to her experiences with videogames back in Japan.

Sei may have inadvertently stepped into things again, though at least the end result this time around was more intentional, even if it was more of a passing thought in the beginning and only really become a series quest once she learned of the prince's mother. Hopefully it works and they won't be hounded any further, though that could still backfire if they want to thank her or create more in the future. Meanwhile, Sei seems oblivious as always to romance and emotions, yet somehow her relationship with Albert seems to be going well. It remains highly amusing that she still refers to his brother as Lord Smarty-Glasses even though she knows his name at this point and he seems to be one of the few that are considered closer to her to have freer accesses and be included in plans for her protection and wellbeing, though perhaps that isn't so surprising given how long Yuri was sleeping after summoning her and how flighty he tends to be.
Short of ultimately pairing Sei off with someone (yet to be determined and that she is not in the discussions for even though it's her life and relationships and everyone says they know she has at least some relationship with Albert at this point) it seems like there is very little to no overall story that is driving things at this point though. More research? For what? Is getting Sei married the ultimate happily ever after that is driving things at this point and we're just going at a snails pace because of how inexperienced and bashful she is? It's really hard to tell. We get a handful of short stories at the end of the volume that are amusing in their own right, but feel like they could have been fleshed out and included in the full story with more purpose and really building on the characters instead of being more behind the scenes like some of the actual volume chapters. It's hard to really see what the driving force is here beyond just what can be used for what effect and if Sei will ever figure out her relationship(s).

Despite being the Saint and a researcher, it seems more of Sei's experiments of late have had to do with food more than herbs. Herbs are certainly still in there, but now that she's learned more similar foods to what she was used to back in Japan do exist in this new world, she seems determined to find them for herself. Side benefit if Aira also gets to enjoy a taste of home that way and she's able to find some help benefit for it so perhaps more research funds can be used to purchase it in the future. As the Saint, she's also earning a tidy sum of both money and gifts as being out in the public means more people want to "wine and dine" her and try to curry favor. Fortunately, she has a pretty solid team of high ranking officials and nobles willing to help fend off the worst of the overtures, though they may not be able to for long. Johan certainly enjoys teasing Albert about such circumstances, though really, he's not wrong in saying he needs to make a move sooner rather than later or be okay with losing his chance entirely.

While we might only be on volume 4 of the light novel version, we're about on target with where volume 8 of the manga leaves us. In reality the comparison should probably be the other way around with the light novel coming first, then the manga, but up until now the manga has been the first frame of reference due to reading order. There isn't as much focus on Aira this time around, but we get more details on Sei and her power and thought process as they battle the slimes and she heals the forest. As an added bonus, there are a series of short stories at the end of this volume that are absolutely hilarious. Sei really does have some pretty unique relationships with her coworkers and new friends in this world. Add that to the unique effects of her magic, and you have a mix for some great entertainment and new discoveries.

Once again, the light novel allows for some details added in that were not clear in the manga version of the story and covers a lot more ground as we're now somewhere in volume 5 of the manga with this only being the 2nd installment of the light novel. All in all, she really does adjust far quicker and easier than Aira does. We also get a bit more on Aira's story back home with her family, which makes it even clearer why she was so docile and allowed everyone else to make the calls for her until the confrontation in the corridor when the king himself is forced to step in. Fortunately, she seems to be coming out of her shell now that she has Liz and Sei to rely on instead of a group of boys who put her on a pedestal, so hopefully things will turn around for the better for all of the main characters here.

The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent 1 by Yuka Tachibana
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This very closely aligns with the manga by the same title with perhaps just a few more insights. It's easier to gather more emotions and details in different negotiations with the light novel format. It seems Aira may have had similar thoughts about the use of something like holy water in the battle against these maisma monsters. Her good nature shows in her efforts both with her studies and her desire to help Sei, especially as she does have a bit of an insiders view after having being treated as the Saint for so long and realizing just how much rests on her shoulders. She also picks up pretty quick on things considering her instincts with the sudden excursion and how the forest healed when Sei went back out again. It wasn't really clear in the original manga that the healing took place on a separate trip, so that was an interesting piece to the puzzle. Seems they might have some experiments to plan when they return to the palace.

If anything, her apathy and fear of being abandoned kept her situation as it was and may have fed into his behavior as he continued to think it was okay in his role as "protecting the saint." It's clear to see he took it too far and was blinded by his own foolish stubbornness and fear. Thankfully, Aira gets along rather well with everyone on her own and truly does have her own desire to be successful, especially once she's able to talk to Liz and Sei. It's good to see her coming out of her own shell and finding her own place.

Not too surprising that people seem to be attributing all of the rumors about the Saint to the same saint and not differentiating between the two girls. At this point in the story though, it seems most who discuss "the Saint" are referring to Sei as she's the only one to have produced the Saint arts at this point and has been the most involved with the excursions. Even with that, it's clear she still loves herbs and is looking at how to improve her work and skill even more. Fortunately, it seems she's getting along with everyone in this new castle as they wait for the knights and the mercenaries to determine what the next steps should be to deal with the monsters.

Not too surprising that people seem to be attributing all of the rumors about the Saint to the same saint and not differentiating between the two girls. The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent 5 by Yuka Tachibana

While her experiment was a success, Sei struggles to figure out how to unleash that same power again. Fortunately, it comes when needed during her first expedition, and we finally get to see what the enchantment on her hair slip does as well. Returning to palace brings her face to face with both Aira and the prince though, and no one seems too happy with what the price is mouthing off about. Even the king finally has enough and steps in. Fortunately, it seems Aira was perhaps too meek in all things but is friendly enough and glad to work with Liz and Sei once the three of them are away from the prince. Hopefully they will continue to get along, especially given all of the confusion and rumors with the two girls both being summoned as Saints at the same time, though it seems most don't realize there are two of them unless they happen to see both of them.

Sei is going all out with her studies while we also get a bit more of Aira's story thanks to Liz. Sei fits in well with the researchers though, especially as she gets yet another wild idea about how to use her magic and increase the effects of the potions. For all that she's struggled to find the answer, it seems her power comes through when she really needs it to, though can't say there was any dire need with the plants this time around like when she was healing the knights. If anything, it proves that she is both kind and caring at the center, and still really flustered and out of her depth when interacting with the commander and any sort of possible romantic interests.
