First time sleepovers can seem scary, but not so much with grandparents. Our kids are always so excited to see their grandparents, and sleepovers are special treats. Sometimes forgetting something you want to have with you can be very upsetting for children though. All the better if you can find something to act as a stand in since it isn't always possible to get the forgotten item.

It is very common, at least in our house, for mama to end up sick if either of the kids are. Books are always a favorite, regardless of health. The catch is staying awake and avoiding any headaches to enjoy the reading. No one is ever happy when they are sick, but company and something to do when exhaustion doesn't win are always good things.

This llama book is all about sharing. It even shows that sometimes things can be broken in a fight. Luckily it was something mama could fix, though this is not always the case. At the end of the day, the kids have more fun when they are willing to share and not throwing fits.

This is a rather realistic bedtime routine book with a fun little rhyme. It is also the first of this popular series, and is the reference for every "red pajama" line in any of the other Llama Llama books. Llama gets scared and frustrated when his mama doesn't answer his summons right away. Sometimes mama is busy, but that doesn't mean she isn't there or won't still come. An important lesson for any child.

This is a cute children's rhyming book explaining how bullying is not nice. The friends walk away from the bully and tell an adult (in this case it's their teacher), who then handles the situation. Obviously not all bullies are stopped so easily, but the principles and foundation are sound.

Just like we have the Nighty-Night book, here we have the exact opposite in Wakey-Wake. Llama Llama wakes up and it's time to get ready for the day. As usual, cute and short rhyming phrases make up the story as Llama Llama goes through his routine. Pretty basic for the most part and likely to follow most routines for children in the morning.

This is a cute little rhyming picture book about a bedtime routine when it's time to go "nighty-night." I doubt kids would want to read it every night, but once in awhile for a refresher would be a good thing. Just have to keep sneaking it into the bedtime reading lineup. Not too difficult since it's still new, so they ask for it even during the day.

This book has no holiday or emotional theme. Rather, it's all about Llama Llama zipping around all over the place playing with his friends. A good comparison book if you have a little one that is always on the go. The scooters were zeroed in on big time for us as both of our kids just got them and always want to ride.

This was my daughter's favorite out of the collection we got this month. Short and cute rhyming descriptions showcase different parts of Halloween, ending with the lasts line of the title: "trick or treat!" The holiday is never actually mentioned by name, but it's still a cute children's book for the occasion.

Knowing that this series has a lot of books teaching about different feelings, this very well could be a general love book, but it does in fact take place on Valentines. Like other Llama Llama books, it is short on words, but heavy on adorable pictures to help tell the story. One plus in the language though, the short rhymes make it easier for small children to find the rhythm of the story.

There aren't very many words in this series, but what words are there are descriptive, simple, and rhyming at the same time to tell a story with some lesson inside. The real icing on the cake is the artwork that tells those stories. These fun illustrations are very expressive, making these short tales even more engaging. My kids caught sight of this one at the store and kept begging for it. We already had it on the way with their school book club order or I probably would have caved. Pay attention to the title on this one. Yes, it takes place on Easter, but the "egg" part is the biggest surprise of the day.
