Hotel Del Luna (2019)

Man-wol is not your usual protagonist. The past haunts her in a rather unique way until her usual tricks land her with Chan-sung as her new hotel manager. There's a bit of mystery and fantasy intertwined with a touch of horror and even some romance as this story unfolds. Not the happiest of endings, and yet, also seems to find a happily ever after for those you come to care about most through the series of events. I'm glad I watched this one with a friend who was familiar with the series so I was warned before the worst of the horror scenes and jump scares as I don't generally enjoy those, but the majority of the story was still enjoyable regardless of those scenes.

Crash Landing On You (2019)

While Se-ri may have been great when it came to business, she wasn't as great dealing with people on a personal level. She ends up very much a fish out of water when a hurricane lands across the border in North Korea and struggling to find a way home. There are a lot of laughs and cute moments and she gets to know Captain Ri, who has determined to find a way to save her and send her back to the South. Se-ri ends up with a rather unusual assortment of friends across the border, but it also sweet the way they all look after her. The ending is left both positive and also somewhat open at the same time. Perhaps the one character that gets short changed in the whole deal is Dan, though she seems content and to be making the most of h er life and choices moving forward (sometimes to the bafflement of those around her).
