This is a cute rendition of the popular children's book by the same title come to life. Harold isn't entirely sure why he was created, and sets off on an adventure to find the "old man", his creator. Along the way, he learns a lot of things about this world and the world of stories like where he comes from. Not everything is as it seems, but there's definitely an adventure waiting at any moment with a little imagination and a special purple crayon. Surprisingly, it was my son who really wanted to watch this and seemed to genuinely enjoy it. A good family friendly movie to add to the collection.

Harold uses his purple crayon to draw out his entire adventure with his imagination. Hopefully he was using actual paper to draw on and not the wall... still, a rather fantastic imagination, especially as he actually interacts with his drawings to move to different places and experience new things.
