A Cat from Our World and the Forgotten Witch 5 by Hiro Kashiwaba

Not the ending expected, but a rather kind way to wrap things up and turn a tense situation into a new world that is looking up. It's surprising who is in the dungeon with Rue, though it doesn't seem that anyone else understands his presence or what it means. Robbie's actions are especially surprising, but there are more than a few small answers sprinkled through the quick interactions to bring this series to a close. Seems death is not the same in this world either as this seems to be the trigger for switching between worlds, no matter who the character is, though no one in their world of magic seems to expect it outside of summoning. Not the usual connection expected, but puts a positive twist on everything.

Mew is getting agitated, and Jeanne seems to suspect a lot of things, though unconfirmed until near the end of this volume. It will be interesting to see if the dowager empress and Tiny both recognize her. It seems the "Demon King" does, but he also may not be what everyone originally thought either given this prisoner's story he tells Rue. Hopefully more answers in the next book, though things continue to move slowly. Robbie at least finally shows some understanding and spine, but maybe too little too late.

Robbie seems like a good kid, even if he is a bit clueless and stands no chance against his mother. Curious if we'll learn how or why the princess went from acting so kind to apparently hating Jeanne and determined to take everything from her. Regardless, what little we see of her is not in a kind light most of the time. On the contrary, those who actually get to know Jeanne and don't go running from her or her "guardian beast" seem to actually like "the witch." Jeanne also seems to recognize many of the people and signs around her, though she keeps to herself still and doesn't go sharing stories.

Seems a few people can still recognize Jeanne, though others still write her off as "the witch" and can't see past their own prejudice. Interesting to learn more about where their orders came from and just how perhaps Jeanne may have survived this long. She seems to be acquiring an odd sort of misfit family in her little dwelling all of the sudden, probably even more unexpected for someone who has been shunned and/or alone for so much time. Between Jeanne's past and Mew's fluff, seems they've been better protected than they thought originally.

This is an interesting twist on the traditional type of isekai story where the main character is not the originally summoned hero, but the summoner and a secondary summoned character that is not even human, but is a cat. Jeanne seems to have gone from a life being feared as a child, to being somewhat accepted and praised in her role summoning and helping the hero, and back to being feared once their battle was won. "Mew" was far from what she expected when she found she was able to cast magic again, but it also seems the two may be growing on each other. Unsure where the story will go from here, but there are at least a few more volumes, so we'll see what we learn of this odd duo.
