Therapy Game Restart 5

Therapy Game Restart 5 by Meguru Hinohara

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

It seems Minato has some surprises up his sleeve, though he wasn't off to a great start completely missing Shizuma's birthday during the photo shoot. On a whole, things are going well and in a direction both are happy with, though they have a few more twists and turns in their story before they'll be able to settle down together. Minato may have given Shizuma a scare there for a bit, but of course they're back to being adorable rather quickly and we even get to see the tables turned for Minato's own birthday at the end, conveniently framing both sides of this volume with the boy's own versions of celebrating.

Therapy Game Restart 4

Therapy Game Restart 4 by Meguru Hinohara

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Shizuma is being his usual adorable and sometime oblivious self while Minato works himself into a panic several times over. The apartment hunt continues and Minato's latest run in with Shizuma's mother has him sweating bullets all over - before he even realizes in the midst of his latest deep dive into work mode he's managed to completely forget Shizuma's birthday even though he already has his gift and at least in his head had made plans for the day. Whoops. Fortunately, Shizuma is usually fairly easygoing if not perhaps a bit too forgiving and maybe oversharing when it comes to their relationship. Minato admits that he likes this though, so for all his griping, really, they just need to find that apartment.

Therapy Game Restart 3

Therapy Game Restart 3 by Meguru Hinohara

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Minato is struggling with some serious jealousy issues while Shizuma is apparently terrified Minato will get tired of waiting for him with his crazy work schedule and constantly missing dates or at least being late. The director appears to have some secrets as well, but also seems to want to be supportive - just socially awkward and doesn't know how to interact with people. It seems there may be more backstory there. Minato and Shizuma still haven't gotten around to the apartment viewing, though they do note they need to reschedule it before the places are all rented out. It's likely a good thing their brothers are so happy together and can provide another point of view to help them keep things together and in perspective.

Therapy Game Restart 2

Therapy Game Restart 2 by Meguru Hinohara

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Shizuma is determined to spend more time with Minato and wants them to live together, however work does not seem to agree with these goals. Minato is trying to be understanding and supportive, but that doesn't always go well when loneliness and insecurity set in. He does get to overhear some of the pet owners Shizuma is helping as a vet with his own ears though, which may be the only thing with that nightmare and missing their appointment with the realtor that saves Shizuma's skin with how scared and upset Minato was before. He does have a habit of lashing out when emotions get the best of him.

This continues on from where Therapy Game ends. Minato is feeling insecure with Shizuma graduating from college and starting work as an actual vet, resulting in a lot less time for their relationship. This volume also dovetails with Secret XXX when Shohei & Mito move in together. Minato really does have a cute side, even if he tries to hide it a lot.

Therapy Game 0: Secret XXX

Therapy Game 0: Secret XXX by Meguru Hinohara

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Apparently this came before Therapy Game and covers Shohei & Mito's story. Shohei loves bunnies, but thinks he's allergic to them. He also has a big crush on the manager of the local pet shop that focuses on bunnies - Mito. If you start this after the other story, the characters will be familiar and you'll recognize events going from before Therapy Game to where the first two volumes end and on further. Shizuma and Minato are both seen at various times, but their own relationship isn't really explicitly pointed out at any time. We do get to know a lot more about these two, which is nice after their interactions with both of the main characters and the family ties coming out in the series.

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Minato is forced to face more than a few things from him past when he decides he does want to risk a chance with Shizuma. Their two worlds mesh in very interesting and sometimes not expected ways. Turns out they've been closer than they thought for awhile too given their brother's relationship. Now it's the highs and lows of insecurity and new relationships and learning about each other to look forwards to.

Shizuma doesn't remember meeting Minato, and Minato is determined to get revenge. In reality, the two are both insanely attracted to each other and neither knows what to do about it - Shizuma because he's always been straight, and Minato because he's closed himself off and determined not to be attached to anyone. Yet for all of these, the two seem to get alone remarkably well when they forget confusion and bets and just be themselves. It all blows up when Shizuma finds out about Minato's bet with the drag queens at the bar though. Perhaps being alone isn't the best thing after all.

The Dragon's Betrothed 2

The Dragon's Betrothed 2 by Meguru Hinohara

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Well, that took a very sudden turn. After a sudden attack from a wayward kitsune and seeing Rin beginning to disappear, Chiharu realizes very quickly that he doesn't want to be alone and wants Rin to stick around. That's a big change from the majority of the first book when he was still trying to get the water god to leave him alone. The story is left off where it could either be the end here or could have a future installment as it isn't necessarily completely resolved. If there is an answer to live together without both of them being in Rin's spring is yet to be determined. Inari and her foxes seem to find them a source of entertainment as well.

Chiharu his thrown for a loop visiting his old hometown when the stranger he meets at the station ends up being a dragon water god looking for his betrothed.... and it's Chiharu. Despite many protests and demands to go away, Rin is determined to stay close to Chiharu and learn more about him so he can win his smile. Chiharu seems to be struggling between keeping his distance and curiosity about the dragon.... and perhaps a possible growing fondness. Now we have another powerful creature on the scene, only this one doesn't seem to be friendly.
