This is an interesting combination similar to Love & Pies where a merge game combines with an RPG storyline and designing different rooms to progress through the story line. The timing for the power ups and items to merge with the board size seem to be a little out of proportion in this game's case however, so you'll need to clear and/or sell things regularly just to make room for what you are trying to make. As soon as you accomplish that task however, most likely you're going to need whatever you just sold off to make room for that last stage, so buckle up to redo the process all over again.

It's a fun idea having a card game instead of the usual match 3 combined with the design aspects for a story line like Ava's Manor or Word Villas. Unfortunately, it becomes very clear very quickly that unless you want to buy power ups, don't expect to get the right cards from the deck to complete a level. Makes for a very aggravating freemium style of game as in theory a card hand should be random and have the same number of cards in the deck, so it should be solvable, but it most often is not.

It isn't often that we get to see a victim rescued before they end up dead, especially given Eve's department is homicide. The flash backs take a bit to get used to, but end up setting the stage very well as the pieces come together to finally identify their suspect. Might have been interesting to go a bit further than the booking interview in this case, especially with Berenski involved and Mary Kate's own grit. Eve's job offer was a laugh and would be interesting to see. Unlikely, given the circumstances, but with her sharp mind and determination, would be another interesting character to stay in touch with and see evolve.

Guild Hunter 14: Archangel's Light
Guild Hunter 14: Archangel's Light by Nalini Singh
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Another engaging addition to the Guild Hunter series. The story itself is a little disjointed as we keep jumping from the past to the present. Overall, there is a lot of building especially in Aodhan and Illium's friendship and as the evolve into something more. Part of it feels a bit too convenient, but at the same time it also makes sense considering the heavy emphasis on how these two have always been a part of each other, far more than any friendship or family label can define.

There were a flow slow segments, but overall this was another great installment to a good series. Canto and Payal are not the average Psy, and not just because one of their designations aren't as widely known or discussed. In a true world of Silence, neither of them should have survived. Their childhood bond proves stronger than ever as they find not just their own happiness, but also work to find a way to save the rest of the Psy race. Things are still looking bleak for the PsyNet, but there's a new hope as well that may at least buy time for answered provided the Scarabs don't manage critical harm.
