While the reunion scenes are sweet, the talk amongst 3 of the 4 princesses is a little strange to say the least. It would be curious to at least confirm if the 4th princess was also of the same mindset, as well as if King Yawen would continue to visit them as bride candidates even thought it's now clear it's Ruiying he's interested in, and she returns the interest even if she's only just starting to realize it or understand anything. The ending doesn't feel like a true ending or conclusion though, so while it has a lot of potential, it feels like the overall story missed out on a lot of what it could have been.

If there is one thing Ruiying really has going for her, it's her curiosity and thirst for knowledge. She genuinely wants to understand things and learn. She's also not threatening at all, in part perhaps because of her race yes, but also just because of the type of person she is. It's cute to see how she interacts with the other princesses, let alone her meetings with King Yawen. The ending certainly wasn't expected, though it would be strange for everything to be smooth sailing all along. Perhaps now that scale may come in handy.

There are some hints to the zodiac here with the 13 animal clans and the story of the rats tricking the cats and the cats hating them thereafter. How Ruiying ends up attending the banquet as one of the Dragon King's potential brides is still vague beyond her hope to read anything she can in the library, let alone these slow revelations about how the dragon clan functions and their traditions. The dragon king himself certainly doesn't appear to have any reservations when it comes to claiming his other half, to the point where he may be a little too forceful on occasion. It's a little confusing as well with his determination to keep Ruying by his side why the other 3 princesses also remain at the palace for the time being, yet we don't actually see them really aside from Ruiying's discussion with the cat princess.
