The Infernal Devices 3: Clockwork Princess

First off, this book is long. There are parts that really ramble and are obvious filler, but at the same time the story does flow much better with most of them. It can get a little confusing the way it keeps hopping around on who the stories focus is. One minute it's Charlotte, then Tessa, then the Consul, then Will, then Magnus, back to Charlotte or Mortmain... ugh. This is a large part of why it is so long as well. Smashing all those POVs into one book instead of only being told from one perspective.
Secondly, the end feels like a bit of a cop out even though you can see it coming from a mile away. With Tessa's immortality and Jem's desperate bid for time, isn't it only fitting that of course the heroine gets to be with both of her "great loves?" Makes it feel a little cheap despite the nicely wrapped parabatai package that supposedly makes it completely okay and natural for the three of them to basically have this huge affair with each other.
Third is the neatly happily ever after. Of course Will is now long dead; Jem couldn't come back into the picture outside of the Silent Brothers otherwise. There was also the nice little hint from Magnus about the events from the original Mortal Instruments series. Of course all the main players have to survive and be nicely paired off for their perfect happily ever afters. Too ideal, especially for a bunch of Shadowhunters who supposedly constantly risk life and limb to keep Downworlders in check.
Beyond the imperfections and somewhat sickening perfect love story, it is a good story in the sense that it does give the reader a lot to think about and attempt to draw them in. It's entertaining to read, but doesn't really devour the reader the way that some series do. Still, it is nice to know how Will and Tessa's story ended at least. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see this continued on with Tessa and Jem.

Infernal Device 1.6: Deleted Scene

This short snippet is the beginnings of a conversation about Jessamine as she leaves Nate and Tess to find Sophie. Nate, taking an interest in Jessamine from the start, and Tess trying to be polite while not really having enjoyed Jess's company.

Infernal Devices 1.5: Blackfriars Bridge

One of the short deleted scenes from the book all included on the same page, it's unfortunately too short to get much detail from. Jem goes off on a little tangent about things he is outside of a Shadowhunter and the places he's been. Specifically he talks about his time in China and what happened with Britain during the Opium Wars.

Infernal Devices 1.2: Will & Tessa Escaping From The Dark House

Will comes across as rather judgmental, rude, and condescending in this snippet. Going from an unknown location like the Dark House to a harrowing carriage ride through frightening streets with someone like Will picking on you can't be a lot of fun. Sort of makes you feel sorry for Tess in the small bit that you get out of it. At least she does have a spine against Will from the get go and will snap right back at him.

Infernal Devices 1.1: On The Bridge

A little introspective piece between Will and Jem discussing love and the wheel of life as they wait for a demon to show for a fight. Of course just when Will is enjoying where the conversation is going, the fight begins.

Infernal Devices 2.1: Deleted Scene

I rather like the scene between Tess and Will in the infirmary. Somehow I doubt that would have happened if Jem had drugged her again. Not sure what to make of Jessie and Magnus at the end of the scene, but it does raise questions.

Infernal Devices 1.4: Of Loss

I must admit that these characters seem pale to me after Clary and Jace from the sequel series, Mortal Instruments. Still, similar to the original pair, Tess and Will have an unknown and unbreakable attraction to them despite the boy's bad history and attitude. Tess is so focused on manners and what is right though, that it's a wonder she never sees through the facade completely or seems to admit to herself what it is she really wants. Make them pair of them rather frustrating.

Infernal Devices 2: Clockwork Prince

A decent installment in the series, I can't help feeling something is going to come back and bite Tess, Jem, and Will now with the engagement. It seemed clear from book one that Tess and Will would be the main pair, yet it's managed to go the opposite way and risk breaking Will completely. I can't say Jessie was any huge surprise, though she was rather disappointing. I actually really like Gideon and look forward to seeing more of him in book three. Hopefully they will find some more concrete answers while chasing down Mortmain.

Infernal Devices 1: Clockwork Angel

Not as good as the original trilogy, but not as bad as I feared from the reviews I'd read on other sites. It didn't absorb me as much as her other books, but I still enjoyed the story. Will still likely read the sequel when it comes out.
