Rio 2

Rio 2 (2014)

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Blu had a hard enough time adapting just with Jewel, he doesn't appear to stand much of any chance with his father-in-law. It certainly doesn't help matters that he's friendly with humans and the rest of the forest sees them as a threat as they bulldoze their homeland. Jewel, and even their three kids, fit in nearly seamlessly with the rest of the flock. Blu on the other hand.... can't help but cringe and feel sorry for him. Not really sure why they revisited Nigel this time around as he was more of a nuisance than anything. Some comedic humor perhaps with the catchy music he and Gabi sing, but that's about it. The really story is all about the rival birds.

Rio

Rio (2011)

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is a cute film for anyone to enjoy; a true family film. While not the best as far as engaging story line or gorgeous artwork, it fits the bill for mild entertainment without having to worry about who may be watching. Blu was raised domestically by Linda in Minnesota where he never developed the need or ability to fly. Little did he know he was one of two Macaws left alive. In an effort to save his breed, he's taken to Rio de Janeiro, where he meets Jewel. Jewel is wild and would do anything to get out of her perceived cage. Now the flightless wonder must face a hard dose of life on the wild side as these two team up with a bulldog and three other crazy birds to try and escape forced captivity away from the homes they long for themselves.
