Madagascar 2: Escape 2 Africa

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The animals from the New York zoo are trying to get home after landing on the island in the original Madagascar. When landing in Africa, they learn once again that maybe the "wild" isn't all it was made out to be. Alex finds his family, but is promptly set up and kicked out of the pride by a power-hungry lion forcing his father's paw (think like Scar from The Lion King blended with Elvis). Marty finds that being part of the herd makes you get lost in the crowd and maybe he's not as "special" as he once believed. Melmen still thinks he's always sick and/or dying. Gloria is perhaps the only one who is mostly happy with the experience just because she might have found a relationship out of it. In the end, her friends and getting out of there to safety when a group of stranded New Yorkers come hunting take priority. Now they're on vacation with Alex's family until the penguins come back from their honeymoon (rather strange wedding that was) to pick them up.

Penguins of Madagascar

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

These 4 penguins take on a series of rather strange adventures. It's sometimes hard to tell if they get through things by actual skill or sheer dump luck. Either way, it makes for a non-stop sequence of laughs and amusement. The North Wind succeeds in both playing the "good guys" and being rather aggravating all at the same time. Really, it's all about the penguins.

Madagascar

Madagascar (2005)

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Not entirely sure what made me watch this movie as I'd never had an interest in it before. For whatever reason, I turned it on. These animals are so quirky and crazy; they're highly entertaining. Not enough to make a favorite of all time, but definitely good for some fun and laughter. Kick back and enjoy the show.
