Bibliophile Princess 10 by Yui Kikuta

A little over a year after reading the full published series at this time, I came to find this new gem and that there is at least one more volume planned in the manga. This is a much softer series overall, and this volume has a lot of fluff. It's rather cute when Eli realizes exactly what happened at the previous masquerade, though her obliviousness outside of her books and overall knowledge could potentially get her in trouble. Fortunately, she has a lot of people looking out for her, even if one of them is an overly enthusiastic prince that she's conveniently engaged to. The banter about what Eli would like to read next is also funny in a way, though the topics might be a little too racy for how innocent Eli is at the moment. Most of Eli's time that we see is either with Chris, her family, or books, so the lab scenes are an amusing change of pace, even if Chris might be losing his mind in jealousy.

Bibliophile Princess 2 (Light Novel)

We seem to be averaging about 3 volumes of the manga in these first light novels roughly, though of course some of the perspective and details are different with the different format and writing. It ends on a rather hilarious note in the main story and leads into a side story focusing on Therese and Glen respectively. Eli may be as clueless as ever, but those around her are always surprised by how she manages to turn the tables in her favor so calmly. The new ghost story at the end is also entertaining, especially given the original rumors with the library ghost before the bibliophile princess came about.

Bibliophile Princess 1 (Light Novel)

This has been on my TBR pile for awhile now as I enjoyed both the manga and the anime. As is usual with most series that have all 3 of these media formats, much more ground is covered in one light novel than in a manga volume or anime episode. This volume takes us entirely through the engagement concerns that kick off the series through the festival and meeting the Roma. Roughly through volume 3 of the manga if memory serves. Even more of Eli's thoughts and point of views are clearer in this form as the story is told from her viewpoint. The one viewpoint that we don't get as much from, is from Prince Christopher's, though it's still clear in his interactions and words to Eli that he adores her beyond belief.

There isn't really a definite end to this series, but it does end on a high note. Eli's fears may not be entirely conquered, but she's slowly learning and realizing what everyone means when they insist she's fine just the way she is. As usual, Eli and Chris are sickeningly sweet with each other, while Eli continues to have the most hilarious gut reactions when they are interrupted. All of the rumors and scheming that is known at this point seems to be resolved. Truthfully the only thing that would make the ending better would be if we actually saw the wedding itself after all of this drama. Even then, the ending that is used is sweet and brings the main cast together very charmingly while highlighting a few more of their wins.

Poor Eli really is struggling. Chris may not be doing so well either given his stricken expression and how he dotes on Eli and tries to protect her. The queen is difficult to read as well, and things seem to keep stacking up perfectly to play to Eli's fears and weaknesses. The queen seems to be on Eli's side, but she's hard to read. On the other hand, these new girls descending on everyone seem more like vultures. Eli's doubts are likely to continue to eat at her, though fortunately her prince is not so easily swayed. How long until this new group realizes how futile their efforts are, and who is sharing stories outside the palace walls? Eli is going to be hard pressed not to speak her mind the way she usually does as she learns this new game of politics.

Oh goodness, Chris sure does get his feathers ruffled easily, especially when it comes to Eli, though it's also sweet while being hilarious at the same time. One by one, Eli manages to unravel the mysteries they come upon so everything makes sense and seems to work out in favor of all.... or all except for the culprits of whatever trouble they were rooting out to begin with. Now we have this new misunderstanding that is just as hilarious while Eli is completely clueless at the start as usual.

Someday, maybe Eli will succeed more with her self esteem, but she's still trying and still learning. Fortunately, she has some good people around her, as well as a very protective fiancée, even if some of their family may be behind some of the recent danger. It seems like this other prince may not directly be the feared danger, but there still seems to be plenty lurking around, and not all of it wields swords. If Chris' brother thinks he'll be angry with all the men flocking around Eli, what does he think about certain young ladies behavior towards his beloved?

It seems there may be some new danger that is not entirely known yet, not that the prince will take any chances he can avoid, even if he's away from home. This is further proving that Eli's feelings are just as strong, even if she struggles with how to express them "normally". Hopefully some answers in the next volume.

Prince Christopher seems to have a very good memory when it comes to Elianna, though Eli herself has a horrible memory, especially when it comes to people and her childhood it seems. We learn a lot about why the prince has gone to such great lengths to keep Eli at his side and see his rather awkward attempt at their first date outside the palace (thought it seems like they more just ran into each other to spend time in the palace rather than ever actually having a date previously). Eli is all too pleased with their destination, but events at the market couldn't be expected in the least, not helped so much by Eli's rather rampant imagination and skepticism. While the storyline still feels familiar since watching the anime, the details are also vague enough that I can't recall exactly how this plays out or why the Roma dislike Eli's family name so strongly.

The story is still familiar as this first volume introduces Elianna and Prince Christopher's engagement and the initial assumption that their engagement will be broken off once Prince Christopher finds a more appropriate candidate to be his princess. Things are not as they appear in many ways as Elianna finds many new discoveries in what seems like a very short timeframe.
