Amane takes a leap and admits his feelings to Ryuuji, but runs off right away, afraid of the past repeating and the loss of their friendship. The last thing he expected was Ryuuji sitting down with him and calmly asking him to explain what he means and what he wants from their relationship. We also get a lot more backstory on Ryuuji and why he works so earnestly at the family restaurant. It's also rather adorable how Ryuuji's entire family adore Amane, who seems to be starved for family attention and love. There's a rather sweet progression with an underlying friendship that doesn't suddenly change or disappear just because they're coming from different places initially. If there is one thing that Ryuuji is good at that helps center Amane, it's his insistence that they stay on the same page and he never judges or punishes Amane from his thoughts or feelings, but instead validates them while still taking the time he needs for himself in a thoughtful manner that doesn't hurt their friendship.

Amane lived a very different life before moving in with his granny and meeting Ryuuji. He learned early on to hide his feelings and fit the social image people wanted from him to gain affection without strings attached. The last thing he expected when he moved was a friend who didn't shy away from his differences and continues to encourage him to be true to himself. It's a rather wholesome take on their growing relationship as Amane struggles to stay just friends and admits it would be all too easy to fall in love with Ryuuji.
