Usually it's the heroine that we see as the main character in these isekai series, but Yumiella was originally supposed to be the hidden boss after defeating the Demon Lord in the game she woke up in after dying in college in her home world. Regaining the memories of her previous life and playing the game she's now living in at the age of 5, she spends her isolated childhood leveling up as much as she can before entering the Royal Academy. That has some unexpected side effects as no one believed anyone could possibly be level 99 as a new student, let alone one wielding dark magic and that bears the "cursed" black hair. While there are some things that it seems can't entirely be changed or are still impacted heavily by the drive of the original game play, there's also a lot that Yumiella and her unexpected friends are able to change. She still has an odd obsession with leveling up as if she's playing the game, and seems completely oblivious to emotions around her outside of those she recognizes explicitly from the game (mostly just between Prince Edwin and Alicia). We never did learn why it seems Alicia only sees Yumiella and Ryu as the dark blobs, though it could have something to do with their dark magic. As we never see how she sees the Demon Lord and she doesn't react to him the same way she initially does Yumiella, it's hard to say if that truly was the point of her reaction or if possibly there was some underlying reason for this oddity. We also don't see the final determination of the hero and the saint, which along with the otome romance scenes, seems to have been the purpose of the original game these characters are all now living. Hopefully Yumiella does get her wish for a more peaceful life once her fears of dying after the Demon Lord can be laid to rest.
