Dino Squad

Dino Squad (2007)

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was another attempt at finding a child-appropriate dinosaur show for my currently dinosaur-obsessed children. Despite the older art style and the second season seeming to cut off rather abruptly, this has been a hit with both kids and a frequent request that they will actually agree on rather than fighting over who's turn it is to pick something when they get time for a show.

Horseland

Horseland (2006)

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Far away, in spectacular countryside, there's a fantastic place called Horseland - a complex of stables, arenas, barns, rolling green pastures, and riding trails through verdant mountain forests. A lot of kids board horses here. We follow the adventures of three girls and one boy, all 11-12 years old. They become best of friends as they learn all about horsemanship: the intricate dance of dressage, the thrills (and spills) of show jumping, and the care and grooming of their animals. We'll also meet two spoiled sisters with attitudes, and an older boy who serves as mentor for them all. But what makes Horseland such a special place is that the horses and stable animals talk... at least, to each other. The animals' rich, exciting lives complement and illuminate the experiences of our human cast - and help make 'tween life a little less confusing. - IMDB
This is an interesting show. Rather laid back in pacing, the art is sub par, but the stories are simplistic and teach something basic, yet important at the same time. We started watching this for my daughter, who loves horses and was feeling a little down about her current activity restrictions with her new broken arm. Thankfully my son also likes horses, so there haven't been any complaints about the show yet. I wouldn't rank this as a favorite for hose shows, but it is cute and the kids are enjoying it, so I'll consider that a win.
