Well, the age gap isn't as huge of an issue after Shin's birthday in this volume as he's now of legal age. It's amusing how Minato still insists that he must actually graduate first before they can have any relationship other than just friends, though that also helps with the adult mentality and makes it less questionable when they finally go talk to the family since school will be out. Minato needs to stop scaring everyone though; and what on earth was Shuu about to tell Minato before he passed out? The workout bit at the end is a big tease, but also hilarious. Something hints that isn't the announcement Shin was hoping Minato would make, but it may have worked out in his favor anyway given how absent minded Minato can be at times. While the afterwords indicates that there will be another volume following this one to look forward to with the multiple relationships still in limbo, there is no news yet on when it will be available in English (it looks like the Japanese release was on 5/27/26, so it's really new still and will likely take awhile). May want to revisit notes at least if not the actual series when it comes out as a refresher.

Minato's Laundromat 5

While Hanabusa's relationship still seems to be up in the air, we do get a lot more detail about him and his friend, who doesn't seem to be too much older as they grew up together and even traveled together. Shin's sister takes this news remarkably well overall, though it's understandable Shin still appears to be worried about her. That doesn't stop Shin from continuing to pursue Minato though, even convincing him to go to Tokyo with him for a university tour. We get small glimpses into the years Minato was in Tokyo as a result, including an encounter with his ex-boyfriend. Shin may have crossed the line finally, though Minato can't seem to decide if he's relieved or sad after everything, and they're both still in Tokyo. There's a lot to resolve in not a whole lot of time, and the current tension could make the trip back home more than a little bit challenging - assuming they even still travel back home together at the end of everything that is.

Minato finally gets that conversation with his first crush that he kept missing out on, but it doesn't sound like his feelings remain the same, despite his previous behavior indicating that he may still be holding onto that flame. Shin is understandably upset by a few things, but also undeniably still attached to Minato at the end of the day. We even finally get the whole story of how the two first met, though Shin didn't even know Minato's name until their most recent meeting (and the name that Minato knew was made up, so their recent introductions wouldn't ring that bell either). While there are plenty of charged moments between the two main cast, we end on a cliffhanger of a different kind with another relationship that appears to have a bit of an age gap, though it's unclear how it compares to Minato and Shin's. To make it even more confusing, Shin's sister is also crushing on one of this new pair, so we have a potential triangle in the works.

Minato does a bit of literal running away in this volume, though he does eventually manage to talk to his old mentor somewhat normally, not that he gets the answers that are plaguing him in the process. He does, however, manage to make Shin jealous yet again. Can't help but feel sorry for Shin a bit, especially as things seem to be going as well as possible with the amusement park, even though he's somewhat accepted not to expect anything more until he's graduated given Minato's frequent complaints about his age. That doesn't stop Shin from pushing and hoping in the meantime though, or prevent his jealousy. There is a very brief flashback that may hint at when Shin and Minato first met, though it is very very brief and doesn't go into any details, so it's difficult to say for certain. There are still a lot of ways that this series could go, even though the main characters remain much the same.

Shin's jealousy is even more apparent in this volume as he discovers one of his classmates is also friendly with Minato (or Akira as he knows him as). There's plenty of action between a thief, Minato's high school reunion, Minato getting sick, Shin's school sports festival, and all the jealousy flying around (not in any specific order there). We end on a bit of a cliffhanger with the reappearance of the one person Shin's jealousy may actually be founded against, not that Minato seems to believe there was any real chance for him with this individual.

Without any idea of the series before starting it, there are a few surprises that come up pretty quickly. The biggest one, of course, is the age gap. Minato is in his 30s and now running the laundromat that his grandfather left him. Shin is in high school. It's rather cute when the two are just friends, and Minato is trying his hardest to keep it on that leve. Once Minato accidentally slips and admits to his own sexuality, the gloves come off so to speak, and Shin seems to be on a mission to make Minato his. Shin mentions something a few times that hints at it already being 10 years too late for Minato to convince Shin that he doesn't like him. Truthfully, even Minato admits that Shin is exactly the kind of guy he likes, and the two do seem to fit well together when Minato isn't trying to flee for his very survival. If Shin weren't still a minor, the age gap wouldn't seem so bad, even if it is still rather large. Perhaps that is one of the things that will resolve over the time of the series.
