There's not a whole lot of story progression here as Jill is still a cadet and they are still in hiding from Hadis' uncle. His siblings do seem like they care for him in their own unique ways, though they also feel like their current standing prevents them from aiding him directly, at least originally. It's interesting to see how the manga version compares to the light novel and the anime. We also meet the "Raccoon" for the first time in this volume, though we don't see much of him just yet in the story line. As usual, the manga moves much slower than the light novel does, though it is still interesting to see everything in art form rather than just in words.

The manga is currently the furthest behind in the story of all the mediums available, and yet there is something about seeing the story come to life with the art that is still thoroughly enjoyable and continues to add new dimensions to the story. Miyo meets her mother's family for the first time and learns about her own gift, but possibly at the cost of her new life she's slowly been settling into with Kiyoka. Miyo's own timid nature is at times her worst enemy, though she has quiet moments where she comes to her own realizations. Once she's made a decision, she seems to be steadfast in seeing it through. Of all the characters in the series, her growth is the most significant in all forms of this series, though she remains very demure.

Well, that was a short lived adventure. Also a rather surprising turn with Agnes' new stance on the whole Lilie fiasco. It seems at least the two may have managed to grow closer, even if they still need to work on their communication some. Clearly, it's improving at least, and the commoner point of view shared in the after stories confirms some rather enlightening and positive views from the rest of the kingdom. Add that to the plans with Lucilleur and his brother wrapped up, and it makes sense why this is noted as the end of the series, though there is a noted volume 5 listed online. Really, if anything, it's surprising that we still haven't seen an announcement for an official heir given the way these two are like rabbits when they are together and their official marriage. Agnes did say she'd cast that contraceptive spell in the past when she thought they were breaking up and using each other, but would that still be in effect after their marriage given how driven they are by their duty in addition to their feelings?

These two cannot seem to figure out how to communicate with each other, at least not outside of the bedroom and finally admitting they love each other. It's amusing when they're in front of those that are cheering for them and want their happiness, including Agnes' cousin even if Lucilleur is incredibly jealous of him. When it comes to Lilie though, of course nothing is guaranteed and everything seems to backfire. At least this time Agnes hopefully will realize that Lucilleur doesn't wish for them to be separated, though who knows what may happen next.

There are some hints to the zodiac here with the 13 animal clans and the story of the rats tricking the cats and the cats hating them thereafter. How Ruiying ends up attending the banquet as one of the Dragon King's potential brides is still vague beyond her hope to read anything she can in the library, let alone these slow revelations about how the dragon clan functions and their traditions. The dragon king himself certainly doesn't appear to have any reservations when it comes to claiming his other half, to the point where he may be a little too forceful on occasion. It's a little confusing as well with his determination to keep Ruying by his side why the other 3 princesses also remain at the palace for the time being, yet we don't actually see them really aside from Ruiying's discussion with the cat princess.

It's interesting to see others reactions to Mielle and the other traitors as well as the few that learn of Aria's true parentage. Sarah and at least the original two maids are as reliable and friendly as ever, even though Annie now seems to have the toughest challenge of all with Mielle. Asher and Aria continue to prove to be a good match as well, with Asher continuing to go along with Aria's plans and seemingly even understanding what she's asking for when it comes to the sentencing. Mielle on the other hand, doesn't seem to learn at all and continues to try to manipulate and make excuses. With Aria's knowledge of Mielle's latest ploy and just how far it looks like Mielle is willing to go even while telling herself she shouldn't, it'll be interesting to see how things play out in the next volume.

Now we have Aria's father in the mix, though she herself doesn't know who he is and how that changes her thoughts about her bloodline. Daredevil: Born Again
Daredevil: Born Again (2025)
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
While this is no longer with Netflix like the original TV series, the story picks up just after the end of the first story, with the same actors as well, though things quickly shift directions. Add as well that this is now considered officially part of the MCU lineup, and you have a lot of potential tie-ins to ongoing stories and other heroes. More than one Marvel character is referenced even in just the first 6 episodes that are currently available to watch. The story doesn't start out in the vein you may expect at all, but so far is building up the tension and puts Matt in one situation after another where he must reassess his choices, including if the world still needs vigilantes or not, and if he is still counted as one of them.

Aria seems to be coming to terms with her failed plans, but is still framing her own plans in terms of using, stealing, and scheming where there are more than few occasions that even she admits she genuinely wants someone to be happy, especially with Lady Sarah. Mielle seems to be content that she's won Lord Oscar, though she's still vexed whenever Aria shows up, and even more so when it seems things don't go her way. We finally see Lord Asher admitting his true title and position to Aria as well, which is as hilarious as expected, though the volume ends on that cliffhanger, so will have to pick up the net volume to see how that interaction plays out.

I'm missing a few chapters, so the story is a little harder to follow with the jump, but the art and characters are as engaging as ever. It seems Maomao has landed herself in yet more trouble, but not the type that either Renshi or her fathers are willing to leave her in. Maomao keeps toying with getting close to realizing what Renshi has tried to tell her a few times now as well, but somehow manages to keep convincing herself to stop thinking about it or that she doesn't need to know so she drops it before admitting anything to herself. We finally get some background on the aloof newest concubine to the Inner Palace as well, which was not expected at all. Hopefully the proverbial rescue team makes it before things go too far south, especially as they're reason can't solely be rescue, though it's clear that's a driving force for those in command regardless.

This is a similar storyline to common romance plots like Marmalade Boy or Mint Chocolate except both the parents and the kids are all male. There's an additional level of separation in the relationships as well given it turns out Shizuka is adopted. Additionally, it would be shocking if their parents weren't supportive given they are interested in the same kind of relationship and lifestyle they themselves also chose. Motoya is maybe a little too pushy, but Shizuka doesn't seem to mind too much overall. Shizuka is the opposite where even when he thinks he's being assertive, he seems to have difficulty articulating anything he wants himself or believing it's okay. Not sure they really strike the correct balance just yet between shyness and domineering, but for a quick story, it has it's cute moments along with more than a little steam.

By some chance of fate, it seems the hourglass that seems to have turned back time originally, retains that same power once it's been repaired, though only for Aria. Armed with foreknowledge and a prayer, Aria is determined to take her sister's better life for her own and thwart all of her schemes leading to her death. So far, most scenarios seem to be turning in her favor, except it's hard to read these new interactions with the mysterious Asher or Lord Oscar. Also concerns on what this hourglass use really means and if there are any additional ramifications with her essentially playing with time so she can be both the bully and the angel.

Who Made Me a Princess 9
Who Made Me a Princess 9 by Spoon

This is the last installment for Who Made Me a Princess, so the story is over, though there are still some loose ends that you can imagine what you will. Anthy has grown a lot, but in some ways is still just a child, especially when it comes to her father. On the other hand, Claude has changed a lot behind his usual stoic demeanor, and it's truly both entertaining and sweet to see how these two interact with each other. It does seem like Lucas might have an edge ahead of Ezekiel, at least up until the two of them walk in on Anthy and Claude, which is rather hilarious. Not so surprisingly, everyone seems to adore Anthy, even if most only know rumors until she appears in the public finally. At least this time, it seems she's happy.

This was a very quick read though comparatively the story is rather slow-moving in manga form. We officially meet Freddy and get to see Lloyd and Chloe interact with his family for their first dinner party. Taking Chloe dress shopping is also adorable, and as usual, the locals adore her aside from maybe a certain group of thugs who are not so happy with Lloyd at the moment. As usual, both Lloyd and Chloe are clueless when it comes to their own feelings and the potential for their lives together at this stage, though Lloyd at least seems to recognize a similarity to what seems to be known as family if not a desire for them to at least apply that label to their relationship rather than just employee and employer. Chloe gets so flustered though, it's adorable and hilarious at the same time.

While this installment is an easy read, it jumps all over the place as the focus is split between two couples while also being tied into what is happening with the Brotherhood and the King. Both relationships seem to be set to failure even though Mayhem is fully onboard with everything and willing to accept anything while Apex has been mourning his lost relationship for 30 years and still seems convinced it's doomed to failure even when he finds Callum again. A lot of negativity and doomsday thoughts flying around for two couples who are supposedly also happy to have found each other. That's without factoring in Whestmorel and his power play. At minimum though, Mayhem and Apex manage to rig things up to the Brotherhood's advantage, even if it doesn't pay off exactly to the extent they had hoped for right off the bat.

We do finally meet Taesung's dad in the last season, and while it seems he could be a bigger challenge than Ms. Ha was, seems oddly more reasonable in some ways too, though boundaries are questionable and clearly has little to no concept of how to interact as a father rather than a business figure. Haebom is his usual innocent self, which draws more than a few people to him and may stir up some misunderstandings along the way. For as meek and passive as Haebom usually is, it's also good to see that he does actually get jealous and worries about Taesung, too. Their big office job ended up being a bit of a land mine, but it seems like they're also gaining some good experience and connections in the process.

If this is truly meant to be the last volume in the series following the online chapter releases, it would need to wrap up season 4 and the epilogues (of which there are many). As with volume 5, it's very difficult to tell where this volume starts or ends compared to the chapter format available to read online. From the description, it would appear this ends somewhere between the end of season 3 or early on in season 4, which is an odd stopping point, but still possible. At minimum, it would seem that the promise rings at least make an appearance here and Jia joins the ranks of friends in the know. Fortunately, the boys seem to have some good friends on their side at least, and haven't run into too many problems in their personal lives. The main focus seems to have turned to dating, life after college (including work), and lots of explicit scenes. If you were to count the pages, you'd find more explicit content than anything else (someone online actually did count at one point). v

It's hard to tell where these volumes end when you're reading the chapter version online rather than volumes, and those don't always match up. Regardless, this new season ups the rating for the series for a reason, and as a result a good portion of the content is a lot more explicit and a lot less story driven. Significantly less progress is made in their day-to-day lives, but it's clear Taesung and Haebom will have a very physical relationship going forward now that they've crossed that bridge. Taesung's new interest in baking is another interesting twist. As usual, his world revolves around Haebom, and if it doesn't make him happy, he doesn't seem to have much interest or place much value in it.

Jaegyun really does turn out to be trouble, but it seems he has a history of this, so the rest of their classmates don't give much thought to anything he says or does other than being disgusted that he's targeting an underclassman. Taesung and Haebom both have more than a few moments battling their own jealousy monsters, though their relationship seems more secure than ever. Even Ms. Ha making waves doesn't really put a dent in them, just makes them worry for a bit which is understandable the way Haebom has always been so careful and mindful of causing any concerns for his caretakers. It's rather impressive how Haebom is learning to step up little by little when they have these new situations to confront, not that he always has the best judgment right in the middle of the conflict, but he's doing much better. Yonghee also steps up more than a few times to help the boys, though it's rather hilarious he still hasn't figured out that they live together, or that they haven't told him considering he's clearly been supportive this entire time.

The boys have a rocky time of things, but do eventually manage to get on the same page. Haebom's school life also seems to be much better once he stops trying to avoid Taesung. Truthfully, they both seem to do better when they are together and seem to struggle a lot when they try to keep their distance, even if they are trying to tell themselves it is for the sake of the other. Their little graduation heart to heart is absolutely adorable. It's no wonder Haebom keeps melting Taesung if he keeps up these sort of innocent moments.

It's hard to tell if this series will be ongoing or is ending here, but things do seem to be looking up. There are some hints of Tomoe being close to their teacher as well, or wanting to be perhaps as she seems to at least have a friendly if not more open relationship with him than most students traditionally do with their teachers. All three of them are taking steps towards their new futures after graduating high school, and seem to have each at least found peace if not some form of happiness in their new goals and outlooks. Kazuma especially is surprising in this volume as he steps up on several occasions, even to Chiaki's surprise. At least if the series does end here, it will end on a positive note with some good optimism for their futures.

Things slowly start to change though when the boys start fooling around together. Kazuma seems to think it's just some fun between friends, but Chiaki is serious and wrestling with his own feelings as it's clear he doesn't want to lose what they have. Tomoe seems to see right through them, perhaps clearer than either of the boys can see things to start with. It's a rocky start for these two, and a huge secret as everyone assumes one or both of them easily should have girlfriends, at least if they weren't glued to each other's sides so much that there was no room for anyone else, but that may actually be how they both end up preferring things to be.

This is very slow-paced, but has a lot of potential and the art is well done. Haebom is a meek child who is bullied at school and convinced that his best friend from his childhood hates him after they start living together following the death of his parents. Taesung doesn't help dispel this belief as he acts cold and distant to his friend after Haebom moves in with him and his mother. While Haebom is bullied at school, Taesung is the popular rich kid that easily finds friends. They are mostly able to live their lives separately other than returning to the same home up until senior year when they are suddenly in the same classroom. Now, Haebom can't hide his miserable school life and Taesung seems to put himself between Haebom and his most persistent bully as often as he can, confusing poor Haebom to no end. Even with this confusion, Haebom takes this as a sign he may have one last chance to fix his relationship with Taesung before they part ways. Taesung's mom may not know Haebom as well as she thinks, but it seems like she was right at least when she warned Taesung that Haebom is likely to leave as soon as they graduate, so time is shorter than they may think.

Sadly, this is the last volume of the main story, and volume 12 is said to be a collection of short stories for the series. While there's not really a final ending, our main cast does finish high school and are on to new adventures in college. We may see the most obvious progress of Suiren coming out of her shell and opening up to her friends in this volume as well, as she's even more outspoken, though still quiet. Kawasumi steps up a lot too and actively is seeking out time with Suiren and reassure her, which is good with the unknown looming ahead as they go to separate colleges. We get more than a few cute scenes with this main couple, and a some hilarious ones too with the rest of the school cast fawning over them. NCIS
NCIS (2003)

This series isn't marked as finished for the main arc, and already has several other offshoots just like CSI. If you pay attention to the dialogue, you'll even catch a few references to CSI in this arc, which is rather amusing. While there are verbal references to the other departments, there haven't been any character interactions that overlay, at least not yet, but it's possible somewhere down the line considering both a written and filmed by the same studio. Gibbs leads the show here and keeps the team on point, just as each other arc or season always has it's own focused leader that is the center of the charge, though we still see plenty of airtime for the other characters as well. Sometimes the leader may actually be rather scarce for a good portion of the episode, though he'll always show up when needed, often smacking the back of McGee's head for one comment or another.
