Hellboy

Hellboy (2004)

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Not my favorite comic to start off with, so consequently also not my favorite comic adaptation for a film. My husband loved the story though, which is likely why this was in his collection. Overall it's done well and is interesting for a short time. It doesn't feel as if there's as much story behind it and some of the CGI is a little obvious. Otherwise it's okay as far as it goes.

Sin City

Sin City (2005)

My rating: 2.5 of 5 stars

An adaption of four short story comics revolving around cops, mobs, and prostitutes. The stories play through with various characters only to come back to their final conclusions 8 years later. A little jumbled and not the best film wise. The cinematography is interesting though as it is largely done in black and white with only select people or pieces in color, adding a unique emphasis to certain parts that would otherwise be lost. Another Bruce Willis film for the collection.
