Demon Love Spell 6

Demon Love Spell 6 by Mayu Shinjō

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

It's always when Kagura nearly fades away that Miko makes some small step forward. This time they really are facing the end and not Kagura over exaggerating to get something from his girlfriend. Even both of their fathers seem to give in and accept there's nothing they can do when it comes to this odd pair. Funny how that doesn't seem to stop Miko's father from fawning over young Kamui in the end.

Mika and Kagura are given permission to live on their own.... with certain conditions. Kagura might be able to live off energy, but Miko still needs money to survive like any other normal human. Kagura's sudden stardom brings more trouble for the couple, and even throws in a comparison to Sakuya from Sensual Phrase. There seems to be a lot of repeated ground every time one of them starts to doubt, usually also timed with Kagura losing his powers.

One step forward, 3 steps back. We meet Kagura's father and brothers in this installment, and Miko ends up in a body swap with her father. That's not counting Kaguya as a baby in a peach that they raise together (in a very remarkably short span of time). There seems to be no end of trouble with this pair.

Demon Love Spell 3

Miko seems to be attracting no end of trouble from the demon world, though it's hard to tell how much is because of Kagura and how much is because of her own cluelessness. Miyuki was an interesting brief addition to the story as well. It's funny how the hamster (still nameless?) seems to understand emotions better than Kagura does and tries to step in between him and Miko when the two start arguing at home.

Miko and Kagura both admit their feelings for each other and to each other, however, they still aren't on the same wavelength as far as what is acceptable physical behavior to express those feelings. At the same time, it's difficult to tell how much is Kagura pushing the line and how much is his demon nature since he is an incubi and does literally need touch to survive.... or does he? If he gains so much more power just from Miko's emotions, then perhaps it isn't the touch that is so important after all.

Miko is an actually miko (priestess) as well as being her name. Kagura is an incubi demon. By some twist of fate, Miko can only see demons when she's touching Kagura. The two form an odd attachment to each other which alternates between them getting closer and fighting as Kagura has no boundaries and Miko can't seem to make up her mind.
