Just how long lived are these characters in this world? There are mentions of 50 years having passed since the main characters last saw each other on the battlefield, yet they both look just as young as they did in those initial panels. Shen Feng has always looked up to Xiao Xing, and possibly loved him just as long, so it's not entirely surprising when he is sent to eliminate the Xiao clan in repayment for his mother's death that he quietly lets Xing escape. They've lived on their own until the death of Shen Feng's father brings him back home, attracting Xiao Xing's attention as well as his family is once again blamed for the death, but he's the only one left alive. The majority of the story follows these two reunited friends as they investigate this mysterious death and try to uncover the truth. Along the way, there are several discussions about past events, though most seem to be rather surface conversations. Despite this, the two have an odd gravity and attachment to each other still that cannot be denied. It will be interesting to see if Xiao really did understand Shen's subtle confession at the end there or if he really has convinced himself that he was just still asleep.
