How I Met My Soulmate 7 by Anashin

It took so long for the last chapter to be released that I had to go back and re-read the first part of the volume to remember where we are in the story. While there is some drama over Christmas with their friends, it all seems to work out for the best. Meanwhile, it turns out Yuuki still doesn't have her parent's actual permission to be living with Iori, resulting in a rather awkward first meeting with her father and an even funnier introduction to the rest of the family over New Year's. Oddly, Iori seems to be getting some good advice from some unlikely places, but both of them still have a habit of trying to handle things themselves instead of talking together first and approaching things as a team. Something they'll need to work on over time, though it looks like Iori may be doing slightly better at thinking more long term than Yuuki has managed so far. We're left on a cliffhanger while Iori is alone with Yuuki's parents and seems to be diving off the deep end willingly with them. Just what exactly is Yuuki going to return home to?

Seno is surprisingly accepting and relaxed given all of the drama in this volume and his initial determination to do what he wanted and see if he had a chance. It's good to see the girl's sticking finding their own courage and making their own moves to secure the futures they want. It's a little surprising that Iori doesn't also sign up for the temp work, though perhaps that would throw off the numbers too much given the constant pairing going on. Even with Seno pursuing Yuuki and creating another triangle, he's always with his friend, so even he always have company. For all of Iori's casual comments where he acts like the other guys confuse him when it comes to their outlooks on relationships, he exhibits a lot of the same emotions and thoughts in his own relationship with Yuuki. This seems even clearer with the ending of this volume and that they both seem to want the same next steps though it wasn't discussed before.

I had to look back at the previous volumes and reviews to remind myself where this story left off and which characters it was following out of all the series currently ongoing. Iori seems to have fairly good intuition when it comes to Yuuki, even if his jealous is showing more than he would like when it comes to Seno. Yuuki is slowly getting all of the pieces of Ibuki and Airi's relationship as well, though it seems to vary with each encounter if the conversation will reassure her or play on her insecurities. When doubts aren't plaguing them, our main couple seem very solid and together, as shown by their conversations in this volume. It seems that may be put to the test with this new situation even though it was originally Iori and Yuuki's plan to helps Airi and his brother.

Ibuki still seems troublesome, but maybe not as much as originally feared once he actually met Yuuki and heard from Iori himself about their relationship. Hopefully everything else pans out okay and he doesn't disappear again. It's sweet to see how Iori still keeps Yuuki as his first priority, even hearing h is brother is back when he's been looking for him for so long. Yuuki is as endearing as every, so earnest and always doing her best, but very sweet in her relationships. The series is ongoing, so unsure where it will end, but it still has a lot of potential and overall is a very positive story.

Iori and Yuuki are really sweet, and Seno turns out to be a really good guy. No one is wrong when they point out how incredible it is that he genuinely wants Yuuki to be happy and stays her friend in line with that position and support. Iori's brother seems like he would be a good guy from the way Iori talks about him, but suspicions being confirmed as to who he is and what he was asking for don't add up. If anything, he comes across as a bit creepy and questionable, which is disappointing. Hopefully that will also be cleared up as things unfold. Just what is going to happen on this trip though with how Yuuki is so shy one minute and so bold the next?

Things with Seno don't go as expected, but that doesn't mean there isn't still plenty of emotions and confusion flying around. More hints of things between Yuuki and Iori, though Yuuki seems to be struggling with what to do and how to read Iori. Iori really doesn't seem like he'd have an interest in playing around at this point, and definitely shows more than a few protective tendencies when it comes to Yuuki. Maybe trying to keep things too innocent, but also fed up with it? Have to pick up the next volume to see where the latest cliffhanger leads to.

The foundation of the story is sweet and different from many slice of life romances so far. It's difficult to tell at this point if Iori and Yuuki are both in denial or if they truly are just becoming good friends, which may be even more difficult with Seno making a move. We don't see much of Yuuki's friend other than short appearances after the first part of the story either, with the rest of the book mostly interacting with guys - a very big change of pace for someone who was a wallflower and doesn't seem to really have any experience with an actual relationship so far.
