Thomas & Friends 5-Minute Stories: The Sleepytime Collection

Thomas & Friends 5-Minute Stories: The Sleepytime Collection by Random House

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

We added this to our collection for our son who loved cars and trains, however, he never seemed to latch onto this series. The stories are okay, but unless your child loves the series, probably not big hits.

Busy Engines
The Lost Puff
Thomas & Scruff
Percy's New Friends
Don't Bother Victor
On Misty Island
James to the Rescue
Edward the Hero
Belle's New Friend
Gordon Runs Dry
Noisy Stafford

Thomas & Friends: A Ghost on the Track

Thomas & Friends: A Ghost on the Track by W. Awdry

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Thomas isn't a fan of all the Halloween decorations, but he does come to the conclusion black cats are good luck rather than bad luck. As someone who has had the joy of a black cat as a pet, they are definitely more good luck than bad. The story is a little disjointed since it goes from stop to stop for Thomas' observations, however, it still gets the point across for a simple Halloween tale.

Thomas & Friends

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Unlike many animated shows, this one follows narration as much as it does actual speaking and interaction between the characters. Still a cute show for children. My nephew adores the series, and as a result has my daughter interested in just because she associates it with her cousin. Have to admit, their credits music is rather catchy. We don't see the show half as often as my nephew does, and even we know a surprisingly large part of the tune.

Thomas and the Magic Railroad

My rating: 1 of 5 stars

I can't think of Thomas without thinking "children's film," which is completely accurate. There is an interesting combination of live action and animation that doesn't entirely work. The animated trains seem fake somehow and the clay faces really are not all that appealing. Overall the movie did not manage to hold my attention and I probably would not have ever watched it had it not been in my friend's collection and I have baby on the brain.
