This is a sequel to the original series Inuyasha. The series is rather confusing when it begins as it's clear Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha are the children of the dog demon siblings, however, how they seem to have no clue about their parentage or relationships to each other and grew up without any of their parents is very confusing, as is how the rainbow pearls have come into play replacing the shikon jewel - yet the black pearl is apparently one of them from the original series and just none of the others came into play previously? It isn't until the end of the first season and into the second that things really start connecting and clarifying along the way.

Hitomi finds herself pulled from Earth (also known as the Mystic Moon) to another world known as Gaia. Some of the people there remind her of friends from home. She quickly learns that things in this new world are very different from her own. Van Fanel, king of Fanelia, becomes her most trusted friend and ally. Despite realizing she must return home, by the end of their journey, the two are definitely more than just friends. Between traveling to a different world, meeting entire new species, finding love, having to leave love, and learning that her tarot and visions are actually frighteningly accurate, her life is turned completely upside down as this series progresses.

While I know I had seen random episodes of other anime previously on TV, this is the first show that I recall following the manga and anime actively, collecting all the DVDs. While the anime does still have plenty of filler and includes characters who don't exist in the original manga, it is still enjoyable and amusing. It seems to almost be the staple story line for alternate universe type series. Being my first real fandom, I doubt I'll ever completely loose my love and enjoyment for this series.

Not the best anime series out there, but it is the only gundam based series that didn't give me headache within the first three or so episodes. I think there's something about Duo and Heero that keeps me interested on the rare occasions I do turn this on. Lots of robots, so not on the rec list if that's something you can't stand.
